Most recent stories from camp! I found out I'm missing the lip sync this year. BIG time bummer. Last year, 4 other co-counselors and myself worked extremely hard and lip-synced to Weird Al's "Eat It" which is of course a remake of "Beat It." I had such a blast getting to do it, and we won first place out of the entire Day Camp staff!!! I already started planning this year's act with some other counselors before I even realized I wouldn't be there. Also, one of my best friends just got back from Korea this evening where she has been competing for taekwando for the past two weeks. I'm also bummed I don't get to see sweet Karen for another week. She is an extremely loyal friend and has stuck with me since I began my public school journey. Let's see...what else. I got into an intense yelling fight with my favorite little boy. We worked it all out though. I think he got one step closer to realizing that he needs to just listen to what I say. But he still has a long way to go. All my kids knew I would be gone next week and were sad to say goodbye. Even after our yelling fight, Kaedyn gave me a kiss on the cheek before he left. Pretty sure that is not allowed at the Y, but it seriously came out of nowhere. That is what I love about kids. They forget they are mad at you by the time they head out the door, and love you despite your flaws. We could all use a good lesson from them.
I have a new precious little boy following me everywhere now. His name is Wyatt and he just recently turned 7. He is a total angel and loves finding rolly-polly bugs and frogs for me to hold. I've told all my kids that I'm scared of frogs, so thankfully, they know to stay away. I think it's disgusting that they like to hold them and I make them wash their hands the second we get near a bathroom. This past week, my kids were actually really good! It was still hard for me because I didn't sleep very well on Monday or Tuesday night. My voice was completely gone Wednesday through Friday, so that made work stressful as well. Friday was carnival day and I got to help out at the "Lil' White Chapel" booth. Kids could pay for their counselors to get married, and lemme tell ya, it was a success! By the end of the day, I thankfully did not have a "ring" on my finger because the kids wouldn't stop arguing over which boy counselor I should marry.
Phew! That was a lot! So tomorrow, my family and I are heading to North Padre Island for our family vacation. I bet you didn't know North Padre even existed! Well in fact, it does and it's just as pretty if not MORE pretty than South Padre!

We are staying at the same place we stay at almost every year, so nothing too exciting or new will be happening. That's just how I like it. I will be perfectly content laying around on the beach reading/tanning all day long with nothing better to do. Also, I will have lots of alone time, which will mean lots of time with my sweet Lord. Something that I desperately need. I will blog when I get home!
In Christ,
J.E.E.
